The orientation was excellent in letting people gain insight in what they are getting into. Laying out what to expect should you go forth into attending future classes/events. Lots of valuable information even for individuals who have experience and would highly recommend!
Renee ran a wonderful 101 course that answered questions I didn’t even know I had. Both Dan and Renee are extremely inviting and made me feel like All Tied Up will be a safe space for an absolute newbie like me to explore and learn. Figuring out which courses are right for me is easy and the online materials provided with the intro class are in depth and super helpful. I’m looking forward to coming to many future events!
The class was so incredibly informative and honestly made my partner and I rethink MANY things we had been doing poorly. It’s crucial for ALL intimate activities, not just rope activities.
Great information presented by two engaging and experienced teachers. Safety, communication, consent, roles, they covered it all. I’m really looking forward to diggng into the rest of the courses they offer.
I cannot recommend ATU enough. The course materials were extremely helpful and covered every detail that I was wondering about, as well as areas I didn’t even think to wonder about. The instructors give very thorough feedback on your work, which is fantastic, and the Slack community is great and supportive.
The Getting Started course is an extremely valuable introduction to BDSM in general, especially with regard to discretion and consent. There is a huge amount of information condensed into a small time frame and all of it is important. The onlone bonus content is great for getting some familiarity with the subject before arriving at a practice or another event; for relatively little attention and practice time, you get conversant enough to feel comfortable beginning in person. It’s a whole lot nicer than a cold start in an unfamiliar setting.
Me and my friend took this introduction class and learned a lot
Not sure where I stand on this subject for myself yet
But it was a lot of fun
My partner and I had a great time learning to tie with Dan and Renee. They’re patient, funny, light-hearted, and very knowledgeable. My partner has a TBI from a climbing injury several years ago, so we had to miss a couple classes. The lights were also too bright for her and they’re not dimmable, so she wore sunglasses part of the time. All in all, it was a great experience!
This 101 class is fantastic at teaching the essentials of rope bondage. You will learn about how to use rope safely, how to use rope to connect with your partner, and some basic ties that can be brought together to do much more complex patterns. I have recommended this class to my friends, and I’d recommend it to anyone interested in starting to incorporate rope in their play.
The 201 course at ATU San Diego was an amazing opportunity to hone my shibari skills from 101 and become more fluid and creative with rope. 201 boosted my confidence level and challenged me to start thinking about other things besides how neat and aesthetic my lines are. I still want the rope to look good, but more importantly, I want the rope to *feel* good on my partner. This course really prioritized that connection, and began to explore how to evoke (and define/communicate) different types of emotions from my partner. From rope management to physiology, a wealth of practical and applicable information beginning to end. Amazing class for couples to communicate desires more clearly and engage in being consciously present together.
