At first I was a little worried about taking a rope class online. After the second class I realized this format actually works better with my life. Being able to go through the modules on my own learn and practice on my time, was a new way of learning for me. Pleasant surprise that it worked. Dan has done A great job thoughtfully curating the most important content and presenting it in fun inspiring ways. Also a plus for me is the ability to go back over and over again and refresh my skills. I highly recommend this class and I think it’s a tremendous value for the little that he charges.

When you finish this course you will be a Bedroom Bondage Boss!
There will be six classes with the instructors to cover important aspects of the course. This course also included online content so can continue to learn away from class. PLUS three additional in-person practice sessions in which you and your cohort can meet with the instructor and teaching assistants.
It is our plan to have you participate in an actual negotiation and to go through a simulated vetting process. This was noted as being one of the highlights of the 101 class process.
Yes, there will be homework. There will be things you need to demonstrate that you have worked on and with which you have reached a level of proficiency. Don't worry, the ties are not that complicated (you can do it)!
There is so much more you can do with a single column and I want to show you how you can have a HOT, SEXY, FUN scene with only one knot!
The "CNC" is the heart of our instruction and changes as you progress in your coursework. Don't know what "CNC" is? Join the course!
You will learn how to create connection and deepen intimacy with your partner using rope. This is such a fun part of the class!
Start learning ties that will now engage your understanding of tension and intention. These two things go hand-in-hand.
As you learn the fundamental skills you can start adding to them with new options, giving you more tools for your rope toolbox.
This tie is so versatile and gives you lots of options that you may never have thought of before. We will show you some ways to engage with your partner in a fun and sexy way.
Using the right friction at the right time takes time and practice. You will begin your training on making rope move in the direction you want using frictions and hitches.
All advanced ties have one thing in common. They are all made up of smaller elements. You will start to understand how to put elements together to tie the whole body and create something beautiful.
We don't want to teach you forms. We want to teach you how to make the rope move and perform in the way you want to tie. You will develop your own style as you progress on your journey, intentionally.
I took my 1st in-person Rope 101 class w Dan in 8/19. Since then I have taken 3 more on line courses. Although the in-person instruction was a great way to meet like minded people and connect w others it did not offer the luxury of having a recorded class to re-watch and thoroughly learn the material presented for each class.
Dan also makes himself available every day to answer questions and review our recorded ties we submit. I have found this to be especially helpful to my beginning rope top who knew zero about tying other than his shoes. As a result of being able to review the class material, he is now on his way to learning how to tie some basic ties and we have had alot more fun during our play time. I would recommend taking an on line rope class w Dan if you want to learn how to tie safely or if you are a bottom and want to learn what to look for in a potential rope top..It’s all covered in the 101 class! 😊👍
During the pandemic, I’ve taken a lot of classes with ATU — Intro & Safety (now Getting Started), Negotiation, Vetting, and with my partner, the 101 and 201 series.
The advantages of the Intro & Safety class as well as Negotiation and Vetting for everyone are that you learn skills you can apply both with rope play and mostly with any other kind of BDSM play, too. You’d think that a bottom could get pretty much everything he or she needed to know through those three classes, right? The essentials of safety, plus how to vet a potential partner and negotiate a scene — that’s all a bottom really needs to know about rope, right?
I’m here to tell you that’s a big nope! While those classes are highly recommended, they are only the first few chapters of the story. The advantage of going through the 101 and 201 series with my partner — the live classes, watching all the videos, and doing all the ties — is that I am now a far more informed and knowledgeable bottom than I was before. I know how to tie a single column — and I can barely tie my shoes, so that’s no small feat — (hah!) but much more importantly, I now have the knowledge to evaluate the my partner’s skills.
I adore my partner ( ❤ you Ari! ) but it is possible that someday I might want to try tying with someone else. And I will need to know if it’s safe to do that, because rope play can result in injury if a top is trying to tie above their skill level. Going through these classes with my partner has given me the ability to evaluate a partner’s skill, beyond what I learn though vetting and negotiation, in about 5 minutes during a basic tie. I know what to look for now, and that has made me much safer.
It’s also made me a better partner, because these classes have taught me a lot about communication before and during a tie. I’m not all the way there yet, but I’ve started to be able to evaluate things like the evenness of tension on a rope. I know where the nerves are (in my upper arms especially) so I can tell a partner how to avoid them.
As bottoms, a lot of us want nothing more than to be able to relax into the rope and zone out. But you can’t do that until you trust your partner, and these classes have started to give me the skills to evaluate whether a partner is deserving of that trust.
This program is very hands on and interactive, for both the top and bottom. At first I was surprised how fun it really was for me as the bottom. I thought going through the class to help my partner learn to tie I would just be standing there while he learns the basics.
WOW was I wrong!
Every week we got deeper into the sensations and the connection between partners during the tie. I was excited and looked forward to every new lesson.
This course really took my partner and I to the next level in our rope play. @DaddyBosh has gone from a complete newbie with little confidence in week one to OMG you just did that thing! We both learned so much in such a short time.
It’s not only about learning “the ropes”. IMO Dan teaches a complete kink course with so many very important valuable lessons that will help anyone play safely in the community.
This has been an amazing, thorough, methodical, well thought out and well developed course!
This course isn't about tying mannequins. This is about you connecting with your partner and creating some amazing intimacy and sexiness along the way!

This is a great fundamentals course that covers rope bondage basics. While a majority of this was review, there were some fundamentals I never learned. This allowed me to slow down a bit and really take the time to focus on the basics. It also fostered a greater connection with my rope bottom. A great aspect of this course is explaining things from the rope bottom’s perspective as well as the top. The basics of negotiation and vetting can be used for all forms of BDSM. The course was more interactive that one would think an online course would be. The folks at ATUSD really worked hard in creating a a detailed course and rope community.Good review of some fundamentals and learned a lot of new stuff
About Your instructors
Dan and Renee have been teaching shibari since 2015 and have helped more than 3,500 students to get started on their rope confidence journey.
Let's take the next step together. Let us, and the All Tied Up team, show you how to advance your skills as a Top or bottom, so that you can engage in amazing rope scenes successfully!
"So worth the investment! Dan teaches with you not at you! If you are looking for a rope bondage course online this is the one to go with. I was skeptical about online as we started the 101 class at the beginning of the covid pandemic. I wasn’t sure about switching to the online mode but after the first week I saw the benefits I wouldn’t have with in-person instruction. Again, so worth it. Thanks Dan" - DaddyBosch - Top
All of these are the same items that SirKnottyDan uses when he ties.
This course includes several assignments that involve each partner communicating with another student in the cohort. These include assignments on vetting and negotiation, which are critical concepts to understand. If someone does not have an actively participating partner, they will not be able to participate in these important assignments.
It is not recommended that you do this course unless you have a tying partner. If you choose to take the course without a regular partner, we will do what we can to support you, but it will be difficult to complete many of the assignments. And no refunds will be given for a lack of partner.
We have structured this course to provide a tremendous amount of content and online interaction with your cohort and the instructors. If you have access to the internet you and your partner can complete this course and learn to create amazing experiences using rope!

You know you want to gain confidence doing rope.
And you know that there is still a lot that you do not know.
Well, we want to help you learn and grow. In our opinion the only way that can happen effectively is not by showing you a bunch of videos, but by being available and requiring you to demonstrate your work.
That means the team's time and energy is here to support you.
You can ask questions and receive support.
You don't have to wonder if you are doing it right.
Don't be deceived into thinking simply watching a video is going to teach you, that isn't how this works.
You need expert support and evaluation of your work and this is the only Shibari Online course that does that!
You and your partner's safety is too important to risk getting it wrong.
And All Tied Up San Diego promises you that after you complete this course,
you will know you have gained some serious rope skills!
